We had to wait until the fire truck left before I had access to my car which got a good wash from the water hose. When we were able to leave, I drove to a mall and purchased a pair of jeans for each of us, two t-shirts, underwear, two pairs of loafers, flip flops, and two sets of pajamas. We went to another store to get toothbrushes, hairbrush and a few other things. Then we located a hotel which wasn't that expensive if we booked for a week. That would give me enough time to find a place for us to live. I would also use the week to send out some résumés because my budget just took a major hit. I didn't show my concerns because I did not want Brynn to worry. I got to the hotel and I checked us in.

“Should I try my cards?” Brynn asked, feeling badly that I was spending so much.

“No. You are my responsibility. I will take care of it. Will you stop worrying so much? I enjoy taking care of you,” I smiled and handed the receptionist my card.

We went to our room and immediately headed for the shower, but we both stop at the bathroom door.

“You go first,” I said.

“Or we can go together.”

“No. I’ll wait.”

The disappointment was evident on her face, but I could not do anything about it. I felt like we just needed to be there for each other. She might be scared being away from her home and scraping by when she was accustomed to such a lavish lifestyle. However, I could not ignore her age and I felt like I was doing something wrong even to think about her intimately, despite the fact that she was my wife. I put away our clothes in the drawers and placed her blue pajamas on the bed. I also laid out my yellow then stepped in front of the mirror. I could not recognize myself. My hair was wet, my face was dirty, my clothes were almost dried onto my skin.

Brynn and I were happy. Everything started going downhill when she revealed that she had been lying to me. It went further south when she walked into her mother’s office and saw me, but I believe in our love and there was no need to rush. I would have her a lifetime after this moment to love in every way we wanted.

Brynn walked out of the bathroom looking sparkling clean. Her hair was washed and she smelled delicious.

“Your turn,” she smiled and I hurried into the bathroom to get away from her before I gave in to temptation.

It felt so good to stand under the water as I tried to strip away the horrors of today. It had to be our worst day yet, but I had many worst days, and I had survived them all. Brynn was not used to them though and her well-being was my number one concern. I wanted to make and keep her happy.
